Sound doesn't work

I have an Audigy2 ZS card in a PCI slot, an cheapy 2.0 speakers (haven't set up the 5.1 beasts yet) plugged into the audio out 1 slot, but I don't get any sound. I don't know a thing about sound, and I'm afraid it won't have sound when I switch over to the Logitechs, can anyone help me?
 
How did the driver install go? I have heard of some people having driver issues with the Audigy cards. I have the Audigy2 ZS also, but it works perfectly for me.
 
The install went fine, Device Manager said that the A2 ZS was right, even passed Creative's diagnostics tests. Just no sound.

However, when I go to Creative Volume Control, Master Control, and Volume, I'm at 100% (0.0dB) which is weird.
 
Test Speakers??? This is what I do and usually it fixes the prob.....dn why though. Just run the Creative Diagnostics and after it does that click "Test Speakers"
 
Regs, AC can't be disabled in Device Manager, only the Creative ones showing can. I did disable them in the bios though.

Waylay, tried it, tried it over and over, still nothing.

EDIT: And I know it's not the speakers, I was using them a week ago on another computer just fine.
 
make sure you don't have anything else running when you install the card. I had some antivirus on and it screwed everything up. don't forget to go to soundblaster.com and have it to the automatic updates.

Im sure you checked everything under Sound and Audio Devices in the control panel? Making sure you have the correct speaker set up selected under the Advanced tab?

You could also try to update the motherboard chipset drivers. Long shot, but you'll need the update anyway. Also make sure to do a windows update (have it search your computer for the latest and greatest), as well as any other updates posted by your mobo's manufactuering web site states you need.
 
I'm downloading the latest drivers for the sound card right now (I had old ones) hopefully that works.

And Regs, I have 2/2.1 speakers set up, latest chipset drivers, everything check. This is my last hope 😉
 
Make sure you have the speakers plugged into the right jack on the card. I had mine plugged into the wrong jack and of course had no sound until I rectified the problem. And the labelling on the back of the A2 ZS is less than great IMHO, it's an easy mistake to make especially when the system is in an awkward position.
