Sound Dampening for open doorway

My furnace is in the laundry room which has an open doorway to my dining room. My den is on the other end of the dining room. I want to cut down on the amount of noise that comes out of the laundry room but I dont want to cut off the airflow for the furnace, so I'd rather not use a door. I was hoping someone knows of a material I can use to hang in the door way that will dampen sound but still allow plenty of air to pass for the furnace. Do beads work?

Or is a slotted bifold door my best bet?

Is it a rental or your home? I'd put in a pocket door if it is yours, but some people hate them as much as I hate bifold doors
If you can't do that, maybe a barn door. Either way you need room to slide the door aside. Either vent it or put a vent above it.

Doesn't your furnace have a cold air return somewhere in the house, other than straight from the utility room?

A slotted bi-fold might help, but not much.

Just make sure there's a 3/4" gap at the bottom of the door. As long as there's a vent in that room, it'll pressurize and force the air under the door....and still block sound.
