sound crackling when using keyboard

i get crackling whenever i use my keyboard and type things in.

all connections are ok
i've tried moving the sound card -- doesn't do anything

a7n8x-e dlx
1gb corsair pc3200
terratec dmx 6fire lt
winxp pro sp2

(keyboard is ms multimedia natural)

there doesn't seem to be irqs shared with the sound card.



i'm completely stumped. does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I had this problem sporadically a while ago. The connector on my keyboard had worn down, and it was not making a good connection, and possibly shorting against the motherboard. I got a new keyboard, and the problem went away.

interesting. i never thought about that possibility. however, i don't recall having this problem when i was using linux. i'll keep this one in mind, and see if i can find a spare keyboard.

when playing an mp3...the sound actually slows down a bit while typing. very noticable when holding down "alt + tab"

well...the solution was pretty weird: changing the "computer" driver (acpi pc) to "advanced configuration and power interface (acpi) PC"

odd...very odd....
