not sure if this is the right forum but i believe this to be mostly motherboard specific since i had no problems with many other chipsets

Using onboard sound? Try this:

Mute Mic, Line In, and Aux in the nForce2 APU control panel. That fixed all my problems on my Epox 8RDA+.

yes, i'm using the onboard.

i did mute the settings, so now i dont see random jitters in the speaker output levels bars even when no sound was coming out before.

however i still have the problems with the sound in UT. i have the 3D hardware option enabled in UT if that makes a difference

I haven't installed the origninal UT on my nForce2 system so I don't know how to fix this, yet. I may install it later and I'll play with the sound settings.

Well, I don't know what to tell you dionx, I just played UT for 20 minutes and hardware accelerated sound was perfect on my system. Better than with my TBSC actually.
