Sound Cards and OnBoard PC Audio

I want to get a soundcard for my PC to go along with a 2.1 system and wanted to know if my front audio ports will still work with the card installed?

Your front audio ports are plugged into a thing. At the moment probs your onboard sound. If the thing they are plugged into is a soundcard, then that's the thing which makes the stuff to hear. You get to choose where to plug them.

Although unless those speakers are in the $hundreds, it's better to skip a sound card and get better speakers.

yep, dedicated sound cards aren't too necessary anymore.

once you start getting into the hundreds of $, it's time to move to an external DAC/amp setup, or receiver + speakers + TV + xbox controller 😀.

most modern sound cards have a front panel header/connector that allow you to connect them to a cases front panel audio

if the sound card you buy doesn't (unlikely unless it's an older card), you can still use onboard for the front panel and the sound card for the speakers.
