Can you guys recommend a fairly cheap sound card to replace my SoundMAX integrated audio on my P5K Deluxe? I'm not necessarily interested in an increase in quality, I'm just getting a lot of interference with my onboard audio, so much that using a pair of headphones is unbearable.

There's no reason for you to spend $80, $60 or even $40 on a sound card.

"Grab a used Audigy 2 ZS cheap."

Ebay > search for "Audigy 2 ZS" > scroll down about 5 > $29.99 Free Shipping

why are most sound cards so expensive these days? for some of the more higher end, more recemt cards they're like $100 or more. seems like audio went up while video went down.

He either needs to ship to Canada, or I need to find one here.

Unless you have a very good speaker system, your ears may not detect any improvement at all over the P5K's on board sound.

I just bought a pair of Audio Technica A700's. But I'm not looking for an improvement, I'm looking to get rid of the interference I'm getting.

Are you "members" actually reading the posts here, or just commenting on "sound cards"?
The OP is simply looking for a sound card to replace his bad onboard audio...
Nothing special or expensive.

Thanks Blain, I'm going to keep looking for a 2 ZS. Are there any other cards that I could find used for cheap?

The Audigy 4 is a good sound card, but harder to find than the "2 ZS".
The price is good on the one you found. My only question is how good is the sellers trading record.

If you don't need fancy stuff like EAX, you may be able to find cheap sound cards based on the VIA Envy24T chipset. BITD they were selling brand new starting at around $25, and their sound quality is pretty good. They just didn't do as well in games if you actually have a 5.1 system and enabled EAX. With headphones you won't be able to tell a difference.

Huh? Nobody around here remembers the $500 Turtle Beach cards, or $300 SoundBlasters with onboard SCSI?
