Sound card woes under ME

I'm trying some SNES roms under ME, it works fine except for the sound. All I get is lots of static when playing. I'm guessing this has to do with the lack of DOS support under ME as the program runs in DOS mode and uses the file DOS4GW. Anything I could do?
