sound card Vs integrated audio

is it any way possible that integrated sound would be better than a sound card? I mean most mobos nowadays have integrated sound functions on them (sound card is unnecessary)...
I have an old Creative vibra 128 sound card of 3, 4 years ago and the new ASUS board I purchased has SOUNDMAX (ADI chip)
should I be using my old sound card or just dump it and use the mobo's own?

The motherboard's sound will be better in your case

Onboard sound no matter how good it is can never compare to a quality soundcard but however in your case with the older vibra 128 you are probably better off with that onboard sound.

With the newer soundcards such as Audigy2 there is no comparison no matter how good onboard sound gets.
