My girlfriends computer recently crashed and she had to hard reboot. When she did, windows went through the whole "detected new hardware" thing. Turns out its the sound card (an audigy 2) that was "found". I told her to reinstall the drivers but the drivers say that the proper hardware was not found. Is the sound card Fubar? The sound card is quite old but has been working fine up until now.

Shes running:
Pentium 4 2.8Ghz
MSI 865PE Neo II
Geforce FX 5900
1GB of OCZ ddr 3200
and obviously the sound card

Sounds to me like the card needs to be re-seated. Sound cards seldom die. Temperature variations over the years can cause the mobo to flex a bit, and one or more cards anchored to the case by the bracket can sometimes start to pop out of their slots.
