Sound card recommendation

Hi there, I am looking for good sound card for my new computer. I used to have Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum. Is SB Audigy 2 ZS best audio card available for games and good sound experience?

I have no experience with other brands. What would be your best choice of audio card on the market today?

What I am looking for is excelent sound quality, good support (games, drivers etc.).

for games the Audigy 2 ZS is the way to go, there are much better sound cards out there for music but they arnt so good in the games

Thanks Anubis. Is there any other company that makes sound card at least as good as Creative Labs?


I can't seem to find any review that would compare diferent sound cards.

Chaintech makes a pretty highly rated card music-wise. I think it only goes for about $25 also. M-Audio is another player in the music sound card scene.

the M-Audio Revolution is a great sound card for ~100$ for what it lacks in game sound features like EAX it makes up for it music quality

If you have money get both.

M-Audio should be coming out with updated 32-bit sound chip soon though....

And where is that Audigy 3?

they skiped it the Audigy 4 is out now

No. Audigy 4 is just another revision of the Audigy 2 marketed as Audigy 4 as a limited time product I believe. Even if they skipped it and they'll call the next one Audigy 5, Audigy 4 is almost the same product as audigy 2 ZS and brings little to the table.

the "rumored" (1 year ago) Audigy 3 with whatever new features it will have hasnt showed its face yet...
