Sound card question

Right now I'm using on board sound with my msi-880 p4 board. I'm about to purchase a z-2300 2.1 system as my klipsch have crapped out.

I don't have any intention of going to 4.1-5.1 for a while due to space available. Would it be worth it for me to buy a sound card <30 dollar? If so any recs? I found the chaintech-710 to be great at a really cheap price.

I replaced my old (8yr) SBLive! with the SBLive! 24 bit about a year ago.

It's a pretty decent card and I got it for $20-$30 at Walmart - it may be even cheaper now.

If you liked the Klipsch, I would recommend getting another set unless you don't trust them anymore. BB had them for $120 last time I checked.

If you do get a soundcard, the Chaintech would be my recommendation for music. So you've been using the onboard with the Klipsch up until now?

If you like bass definitely get the 2300. The sub is MUCH better than the wimpy little 6.5" that the Klipsch 2.1 has.

I dont think a cheap sound card upgrade will make much difference, but a discrete card is usually a better choice. Try the onboard first, and if you're not happy you can drop an extra $30 on a sound card 🙂

Chaintech is the best card under $80 for music, IMO. It's better than any X-Fi (except the most expensive model, which sounds different than the other X-Fis), and it's $27 to boot. I got mine from ZipZoomFly.

Eh i still trust the klipsch but i found the logitechs to be much clearer. The ones that are messed up are the old klipsch v.400 and are 4-5 years old. Only need a 2.1 system now 🙂
