Sound Card Optical Connection and Playback Delay.

I have the above setup and am using the latest driver, for my XP32.

Whenever XP loads (after clicking in the username) and it would play the login sound. However, there's a slight delay in the sound playback.

When there's nothing playing, the Z-5500 panel would say "No digital data" and would go into DTS Digital mode when I play music files.

Is there a way to make the Z-5500 panel to be always in the DTS Digital mode so there'd be no playback delay?

Thanks.

That is normal to have that delay. The DTS signal coming from the x-plosion needs to be encoded to DTS, thus the delay. I have the same card as you and have it connected to my Home theater receiver and the dts light comes on only when the card has encoded the dts signal and sent it via the optical cable to the receiver.

Oh that's good to hear that the delay is normal...thanks so much for your clarification!

If you want to kind of trick it so you don't get a delay for it to start encoding, you could have some music player always on playing an infinite loop of silence 😛
At least I think that would work. I had to do that when my original X-Mystique drivers sucked really bad and I got crackling whenever DD encoding kicked in. The problem stopped when the newer drivers came out.

If you're just getting a delay when sound first starts to be encoded, that little trick might fix it. I don't know if you'd be crazy about having an audio player on constantly though heh.
