Sound card issues

I can't seem to get my SB Live! 5.1 to work correctly with an external Dolby Digital receiver.

The card is set for use with 5.1 speakers but the speaker test only makes sound come out of the left and right front speakers with nothing from the center chanel or rear chanels.

Also the card will pass the AC3 signal on to the receiver when playing .ac3 sample files from it's installation CD but will not pass an AC3 signal when I play a DVD.
