Sound Card for using Logitech z5500 with Laptop

I've got a laptop that doesn't have 5.1 sound and would like to buy a soundcard in order to play music on my Logitech Z5500 speakers. Any recommendations? Internal/external?

Most music is in stereo (2-channel) so you don't necessarily need a new sound card to play music. But if you want an external sound card, I hear Audigy 2 NXs are fairly popular for laptops.
