Sound Card for gaming

I have onboard sound right now, and like playing games like CS source, that are fairly cpu intensive, and my frames seem a little below par, so I would like to find out how much of a performance hit I am taking for using onboard sound. If anyone has an educated estimate or a link to a good comparison, that would be great.

Thanks

you're losing about 10% cpu performance by using onboard sound, although it varies down to 7% or so, not all that big of a deal.

A great sound card is the Audigy 2 ZS or the new Creative X-FI that will soon be released
