hello,

when I play a dvd on my pc, I don't hear any sound because of DTS. Is there any soundcard which can play DTS?

The DVD has only DTS 5.1 audio.

Doesn't PowerDVD decode DTS? Maybe I'm wrong.

Edit: I guess it DOESN'T this is crazy :)

Don't you also need to have a good software player that supports DTS?

Why can't nVidia get NVDVD back out already? I hate all the players I've used so far, and WMP has to have the codec or something from one in order for it to work (well, at least mine says it does now, although it used to play them fine without). WinDVD requires special audio packs that cost like $30 to be able to play DTS and other formats.

Unless I'm mistaken, any soundcard that can output a digital PCM stream is "DTS capable". It's just whether or not you have a DTS receiver on the other end, and your DVD player supports DTS output (which as a couple people above have pointed out, programs like PowerDVD don't do it unless you pay extra)

RedShirt, you were right the first time. PowerDVD does of course decode or pass DTS, as does WinDVD, Audigy, and also free codecs such as in Media Player Classic and fddshow.

Gee, I suppose whether you are paying extra for it (Deluxe) or paying less if you don't need it (Standard) depends on how you look at it. Either way PowerDVD can do it and its functionality is much better than the freebees (including Audigy), if you actually want to decode it on the PC.
