Sound Card For Audio Editing

What would be a good card for editing sound I know SB cards are good for gaming but when it comes to recording (semi-professionally) they aren't so great. Any suggestions? Need one with a good amount of inputs.

Like how many inputs?

Do you need mic preamps?

pci, firewire or usb?

How much are you willing to spend?

Here are a few cards at different price points and with different features you might be interested in.

http://www.audiomidi.com/commo...m/product.cfm?pid=1350 <--basic firewire audiocard that can do a lot including mixing and routing when not connected to computer. You will be hard pressed to find this many options at this price point.

http://www.audiomidi.com/commo...m/product.cfm?pid=4608 Cheaper firewire card. This company makes cards from around $100 up to $1100. You might want to look at all of there lineup as they do have good driver support and whatnot.

http://www.audiomidi.com/commo...m/product.cfm?pid=5367 <---if I was in the market for a new card right now this would be it. This company is the best at driver support and all of there cards from years ago still work and still have drivers for all current os's including linux!! I own thier digi 9636 hammerfall pci card.

There are of course more cards out there but this is a good range of firewire solutions (this is the direction the market is going in so jump on board)

Sound cards play no role in editing sound. If you want to record, as the android with the strange name says, you need to specify the equipment you will be using (number of mics, inputs (balanced/unbalanced), preamps/mixers, etc.)

I'm actually posting for a friend I'm sending him a link... maybe he'll join and ask himself... that lazy bastard

Ok. Im looking for something in the $100 - $200 range. nothing to special or complicated. I just have one electro-acoustic and one mic, but I am going to record everything track by track and over-dub. no need to have 10 of each plug. way too much.

And Quasmo, as far as ME being the lazy bastard. Who is the one that sits around playing Counter Strike in Depends so he doesnt have to take pee breaks every few hours. Nuff said.
