Sound card drivers

I've got a SB Live card in the family pc and want to know if there is a good reason to use the Creative drivers for it as opposed to the generic Windows ones already on XP? I'm a stickler for running a clean machine and not having anything running in the background that isnt necessary and am concerned the Creative drivers might just be taking up resources for no real good reason.

Any advice is appreciated 🙂
 
Hmm, I don't know, but I think you get better quality out of drivers. Anyway, I have a Creative SBL!, and they stopped distributing their drivers online. :-/

I think the windows ones are old as heck and might be buggy. You can tick the components you wish to install and its really not too much bloat for the old live.
