Sound Card Differences

Well, I was using my onboard 6 channel AC'97 sound card and whenever I played an MP3 (no matter what program I used), it would have a very annoying hiss in the background.

I installed my SB Live! and the hiss is gone...damn sound card (or crappy drivers, because wave files played normally).

Anyway, I guess I'm gonna go with the Audigy unless someone knows how to get rid of that damn hiss.

Just about any sound card (excluding budget cards) is going to be better than the onboard AC-97 codec chips. Fiddling between the mixers usually nets a better sound, but a add-in card is almost always better.

And please, ignore the "Audigy Sucks" post unless you're having issues. Tons of people have problems with them, and tons use them all day long without issue. Same as any other Creative labs product.

*sigh*

I guess I'll stick with my Live! card (although my other computer still needs one...), I'll just get another Live! for my other comp
