OK yesterday I had sound but today i dont. OK i decided to clean my case out and apply new artic silver to my cpu. I did all this dusted everything out , i complelety tore apart my system. i put everything back together and everything else works except my sound i go to control panel sounds and audio and everything is grayed out i also go to device manager and i cant find my sound card any where i tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but no dice. i do have an actual sound card not onboard my onboard sound died about a month ago. please help solve my problem plz

1) What sound card?
2) Are you reinstalling and any other cards into the same slots as before?
3) What brand and wattage power supply do you have?

EDIT: Full system specs would help out too 🙂

Try it in another computer if you can.
Take it out an reinsert it again, perhaps it did get inserted all the way.
Try it in a different pci slot if you can.

oh ok srry my specs are :
gigabyte ga-7vt600
amd 2400 oc'd to 2600
thermaltake 410 the one with the blue led jsut bought at xmas
40 gig seagate
60 gig maxtor
dvd rom
fx5200 with heatpipe
512 ddr400

maybe try wiping the metal connection part of the sound card. i have a SB Live that needs wiping everytime i take it out and put it back.

fixed i wiped off the card and put it back in and i got 2 blue screens then windows started and it recognized my sound card thanks guys
