Sound card and 4 speakers question

Hi,

I have a Sblaster live, with 4+1 speakers (altec lansig). When I play MP3s, they sound through all speakers; however, if I insert my music cds, they only sound through the front speakers, that is, no surround. Is this the normal behaviour? Is there any way to make use of all speakers when playing regular music cds?

Thanks!

Well, most music is only recorded on a 2-channel stereo track. Anyway, are you sure that you have Live!Ware setup properly to play out of all 4 speakers? Open the AudioHQ applet and double-click Speaker. Click "speaker selection" and choose "4 Speakers."

This process is assuming that you are running Live!Ware 3.0.

I've found that it didn't do that when I used a regular connection, but when I hooked the CD drive up to the digital connection, I get the surround.

When I had a SB Live! a long time ago, CD music would never come out of the second stereo jack. I think it is just a limitation on the SB Live! card, because it didn't work for me, and it didn't work on my friend's SB Live! card.

OK, here I go again. I went back to liveware, and even though the option for 4 speakers was selected, I selected it again, and hop! everything is fine now. Go figure...
