A buddy of mine is building a new XP1800 system using that mb and was asking me what sound card to use since that on board sound ain't makin' it. I don't know what card may have issues with that sis chipset. Any ideas? He doesn't have alotta cash or
I'd recommend a Hercules GTXP which I use and love. :)

Not a bad choice of sound card by you, however maybe an OEM version of the Santa Cruz or Audigy will be better,if he`s more into gaming then the Audigy is best bet,Santa Cruz for general purpose.

I'm using the little brother of the GameTheaterXP, the Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo II. The Fortissimo II sounds great, and doesn't cost too much. First thing I did was crank up the volume and play some music to see how it would handle - all I got was some very loud, yet crystal-clear music.

Here's an in-depth review of the Fortissimo 2.

Thanks for the comments guys. He's elected to go with the Game Theater. Great choice.

Make sure the on-board sound, gameport and midi are disabled in Bios.
