Sound but no video with Nvidia DVD Decoder and WMP10

I apologize in advance if this has been answered but I've tried everything I've read thus far and nothing has worked.

Specs:
AMD Sempron 2600+
1GB RAM
XP Pro SP2
370 something GB's of HD space
Chaintech Geforce FX5900XT
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX
DirectX 9.0c

All drivers/programs are up to date. I'm trying to use the Nvidia DVD Decoder free trial which was working fine last time I used it but there has been partition format and new OS installation since then. On any DVD's I try I hear sound but no video, I've tried tweaking the Decoder settings but to no avail (I love saying that). I haven't tried using any other video playback apps yet because I've never been able to find one that was as stable as WMP, but keep in mind I'm also pretty lazy and I do try to follow the "If its not broken don't fix it" method when it comes to my computer (I got tired of breaking things and reformating my OS). I've never quite had this problem before, normally when I screw something up I at least get an error message for my troubles but this time I can access all parts of the DVD's (from what I can hear) but no part gives me video. Any help you can give would be greatly appretiated.

There is another thread discussing that in this section. Here is a link.

For future reference, reposts of the same topic are discouraged here and flamed if repeated 😉 Search is usually mentioned while being flamed for reposting 😉

BTW, welcome to Anandtech! The water can be a bit warm, some of the bugs bite, but there is hardly a place better on the net if you want to fix something.

Edit - BTW, some solved with a reinstall. I have seen a few posts on this everywhere, so I am starting to believe that there might be a bug involved in the codec.

With all due respect I saw that post but I felt it did not apply to my situation since in that post the person stated they are getting an error message and they get no sound or video, I don't get any error messages and I get sound but no video.

**EDIT**

And yes, I did try re-installing.

Just tried a different media player and a few different codecs, still sound but no video on all of them. I would imagine this is a problem specifically with the Nvidia decoder but I am still open to suggestions. Also any recommendations for a different decoder, preferable free (I'm a cheap bastard, true, but I'm also comfortable with that) would be greatly appretiated. I would also like to mention the fact that while Kirk would probably knock Picard silly in a fight, Picard is way smarter and a much more well-rounded captain, not that that has anything to do with anything, I just felt it needed to be said.
