I have a new Klipsch Promedia 2.1 PC speaker system. I noticed that the speaker wiring has posts and bare-wire ends, but, like any PC speaker system and particularly 2.1 -- you'd plug it into the rear port of a computer labeled "Line Out". I think front-panel speaker connections are best used for wired headphones, but it should work either way. Yet -- why clutter your computer work area with a wire that would be less obtrusive connected to the rear of the box?
OK -- UPDATE. I had run a search on an Audigy 7.2 card -- supposedly "X4" -- a PCIE card. MBrown linked to an external device, and I looked at the guide PDF he linked.
Don't confuse yourself with any advice I give. Use the Line-Out "headphone" jack in the front of the device. "Headset Jack". Of course, the diagram suggests using the rear "Front" Line-Out port. Not firsthand, but I'd say they'd both work.
