Sound Blaster X-fi Vista Driver Issues

Ok,

I have recently upgraded to windows vista, and the driver for my sound-blaster x-fi obviously no longer worked. I uninstalled them and got some drivers that are supposedly vista capable from the creative website, however I have lost all functionality of the console that comes with the x-fi. That is the thing that you can open and change between game mode, entertainment mode, and the audio creation mode. I can change modes, but then it tells me I don't have the console loaded or something, and for the life of me I can't figure out where to download the console files. If anyone has any idea that would be great.

Thanks

I dont know about the regular xfi, but if you have the platinum version like me you can kiss your audio console switcher good bye. Vista creative drivers are in an absolute piss poor condition- I'm greatful i can hear sound at all. Almost all the software that worked in XP is borked in vista. Maybe we'll get lucky and creative will remove their thumbs from their asses and get an real driver driver out there before years' end, god knows they've had enough time.

It's creative, what can you do?

It's working for me, at least somewhat, I've got the Audio Console (part of the basic 32bit Vista drivers) and it lets me enable CMS3D, Crystal, and whatever else I deem I need. :)

Yet another reason not to upgrade (for me at least) until December.

I like Vista quite a bit, but I'm sticking with XP for the time being.

Yeah, I couldn't live with Vista on my main rig atm, there's too many issues and the driver support is lacking.

Going to keep it on my test box for now so I can get familiar with it and re-learn where everything is.

Not an issue for my Audigy 4 and Vista x64,I can change EAX,Speakers,CMSS 3D etc.. via Creative Audio Console, even change bass/treble etc in CP ....personally I like the lean less bloated feature, every game works sound wise so don't see any issues.

Bottomline the sound works and plays with no issues, all Creative can do now or in the future is add more software bloat to Vista,is that a good thing?
