The included X-FI card doesn't have the X-FI processor onboard, instead relying on software for X-FI effects. Increases cpu utilization from what I understand.

Steel, I just had a pal with the card measure it (more or less, he didn't have a tape measure); it's 5.5-6 inches long. Looking at the full top-down board picture from Newegg, it doesn't look like it'll fit. I don't suppose you'll have space for it at the bottom PCIe x16 slot?

Thanks Virge, yea it's not gonna fit. I'll have CF or SLI cards blocking the PCI slot on this mobo pick. I'm holding off on the mobo choice for now. Initial mobos just went on sale today, with more due in December. Thanks much for confirming..

Unless I'm looking at the wrong board, aren't you talking about the Rampage II? It has 6 PCI/PCIe slots; the short x1, the 2 blue x16, the white x1 between them, the PCI slot below the second blue x16, and at the very bottom the white x16. The X-Fi Titanium should fit in that slot, unless you plan on filling it with something else.

Hold the phone, so those PCI-E sound cards will work in the big PCI-E slots? If so you're right, I CAN use that bottom one!

Yes. PCIe slots are not entirely size dependent; smaller cards work in larger slots.
