Sound Blaster PCI problems... HELP PLEASE!!!!

Hi all

I just built a new system with an Abit KT7-A and a Duron 750. I installed a Soundblaster PCI 64 (this is a budget system and I really don't want to spend a lot of money on the big fancy cards). It installed with no problems and no errors but when playing sounds, just plays static. When playing a short sound, such as the Windows error ding which should only play for 2-3 seconds, playback of the sound seems to take much too long, maybe 10-15 seconds, and is just static.

I was not able to solve this so I bought a Soundblaster PCI 128 and am experiencing the identical problem. Both cards are brand new.

I have tried the updated drivers and the Ensoniq drivers. I have no errors in device manager nor do I have any DMA or IRQ conflicts. I've tried slowing hardware acceleration in the performance tab. I'm completely baffled and don't know what else to try.

I'm not overclocked and the system is otherwise 100% stable.

Can anyone help me??

Thanks
