Sound Blaster not detected with GA-EP45-DS3 / Vista...

Sound Blaster Live MP3+ from before year 2000... it has worked fine in my XP system but I put together this Vista 64 machine w/ 4GB RAM and it doesn't even detect the card in either of the IDE slots. I've tried a different IDE card (tv tuner) and it detects that just fine. I run the Creative driver software and it soon stops when it doesn't detect a compatible card.

Anyone have any luck with this? I am willing to buy a newer Audigy card but I don't want to run into the same problem where it doesn't even detect once in Vista.

Creative Drivers for Vista are For Shit, and That card is not supported in Vista Try your integrated .. you might be suprized.

The reason I threw it in there was because my on-board sound cracks and hisses and has no bass. The rears nor my subwoofer of my 5.1 setup works during regular playback despite the test working for the rears (but not the sub). Basically I'm only getting the fronts (no matter if I set it for quadphonic, 5.1 or 7.1). It's really flaky. Could that be a player problem? Happens in MPC & WMP. Regardless, the crackling and all is there, and sounds really horrible.

About Creative, so I shouldn't even go with their Audigy (because of Vista) I guess...

I've got two SB Lives that are detected in Vista 64, and the crappy drivers there are install, but the sound is absolutely a**. (broken up and crackly, barely audible).

So I just gave up on using them in that particular Vista version.
