sound blaster live! with acs54 cracking a lot

just recently, the sound on my system has been cracking a lot when there's a lot of bass or several sounds at once. i've tried adjusting the bass both on the subwoofer and the audiohq, but to no avail. it's strange because it's only started making noises very recently.
