Sound Blaster Live!, What are You Doing to My Sound?

I've had a SB Live! card for a little over a year now. It was used before with Win98SE and now 2000 Pro. With each setup, my volume settings, usually wave/direct sound and CD Audio are changed somehow when I'm not around. It never seems to happen when I'm there.

I always leave the volume levels at max and control the volume with the speaker amp. Is this why it's happening? How do I turn this "feature," if that's what it is, off?
 
Sometimes with winamp changing the volume in it will actually change your system volume. There's reasons why on here somewhere but I don't know exactly 🙂
