Sound Blaster Live Value cause Lock-ups?

I'm pretty sure I've read some posts where people thought that their SB live value was causing lock ups with certain hardware. Has anyone confirmed this and what motherboard was it with?

My PC locks up about once or twice a week and only during gaming. This makes it very slow and frustrating to debug. I've been kind of half-assed about fixing the bug but now I really want to get it fixed.

Can anyone please recomend a debug procedure? (for example: step by step guide to config bios, reinstall win, reinstall drivers ect.)

T-bird 800
384 PC133 Mushkin 222 rev1.5
asus a7v kt133
SB live value
visiontek geforce 2 gts 32

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I think what you're referring to is the infamous 'southbridge' problem with VIA chipset motherboards. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how it's fixed. Gee, was I helpful or what? 😀 This seems to be a common enough issue, I'm sure somebody here knows how it's fixed.

Are you using Windows 2000? If so, did you installed the AMD agp patch avalaible on the AMD website?

get a kt133a revision board or better yet do the upgrade to kt266a. My friend and I bought the same board (epox 8kta+ via kt133) and we have both had random problems with it. He had sound card problems, I had RAM problems and neither of us or anyone else that I have seen can get pc133 to work on it. We also both have sblive value (I didn't have any problems with mine) and athlon 800's, same chipset (dif board), and similar vid cards.(gts/pro 64meg, ultra 64meg)

It's stupid they have a jumper, but if you change it the system doesn't boot and epox knows that. Why do they have the jumper then?!?!!?
