Sound Blaster Live (Value, but not only...) Owners: - LiveWare = Usefull or Useless?

You don't have to have it loaded 100% of the time but the utils it includes are useful.

I detest most software bundles that are included with multimedia hardware in the name of "value" and "user friendliness" however, the entire LiveWare suite does not have to be resident at all times. And it does include some useful features and fun toys. Also, I believe there is no way to enable four speaker output without the LiveWare configuration applet.

Modus is right about the 4 speakers I wondered what happened to my rear speakers sound until I installed the liveware & enabled 4 speaker setup.

I used to have liveware installed, but never once needed to use any part of it.

I think that it also updates your drivers, I would install it, but then you do not need anything that runs in the background after you have set your required settings

well techmaster, as you might know i have sb live value, and i can tell you that the liveware thing is completely useless unless you have 4 point surrround speakers, since you dont, you should only install the drivers update (which is newer that liveeare 3) and skip all those lunch bars, mixers, eqolizers and stuff. you dont use them, and if you do smth, you will use winamp and a professional edition tool instead.

I agree. Like most bundled software it just does not add any real functionality that cannot be had better elsewhere. As long as you turn off the background stuff (always good advice) it ain't gonna hurt ya but for a bit of disk space but the only real use is if you are into sound fonts and basic MIDI. I would guess that if you use four computer speakers that function might be enabled in the registry.
