I dont know if this is the right forum, but being that my problem may actually be my sound card I will ask here. I recently bought a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 and, while I initially had a problem with the MD center, all works great. The problem i am having is encoding MP3s using SB's Playcenter 2. The quality of the MP3s is great BUT I occasionally get "chirps" or "squiggles" when I play it back with winamp. When I encode the same track with Audiocatalyst or Audiograbber the mp3s play 100% ok. Is the playcenter software crap? Is the card possibly at fault? Help! I like the playcenter 2 software and would love to use it cuz I can extract digitally. I have tried every possible setting in the software and get the same result. Thanks.

It wouldnt be the card, as it is not done by the hardware.

I have Creative Digital Audio Centre with encodes MP3s, I have no problem with that.

I do have PlayCenter 2, so I shall try that next time I need to rip a CD.

There is a blurb on creatives website that mentions "bursts of sound" with mobos using a VIA chipset, which it what I have. I'll try their supposed remedy and see if that helps.
