Sound Blaster Live Drive & rounded cables

I bought a SB Live Platinum 5.1 with the Live Drive IR. I like to keep this system neat, so I use rounded cables. I hate the ribbon cable going between my SB and the Live Drive. I have heard some people say standard IDE cables will work, and some say they used rounded cables. I tried and had problems with the headphone jack on the drive not working with my rounded cable. It's a dual device cable, and I wonder if a single device cable would be better? Unfortunately, my single device cables have that damn blocking pin installed, and I can't get the darned thing out!

Is anyone else here using rounded cables with this SB combo???

Drill out that blocking pin, round that sucker and give it a try! At least that way you won't mess up your original cable.
 
Didn't work. I guess that pin is needed. I moved the card to the last PCI slot so the ribbon cable would run at the bottom of the case and would be less obvious. I wish Creative Labs would sell a rounded cable for this thing!
