Staples just lowered the Sound Blaster live X-Gamer to $79 use a $25 off coupon for the $55 price, the MP3 is $76.49 just bought one online, they are also
in the stores at the same price...but you need a coupon post card
to get a B.M. store to honor the coupon code.
Linkified:

X-Gamer

mp3 Live

MP3 version is OUT OF STOCK NOW
other sites are also lowering these cards Comp4sure $66.89 and so on..

What's the diff between the X-Gamer, MP3, and Value? Just the bundled, bloated, software?

Sounds like a good deal, I need a sound card for a system I'm putting together. Are there any distinct advantages between either of these cards?

These are the 'older' versions of the Lives, they don't have the Dolby 5.1 decoding, not that many people will miss it, but just a heads up.

Also, they come with different software packages, the 'new' x-gamer 5.1 for example comes with Deus Ex, MDK2, Theif II and Unreal Tournament, while the older version comes with Decent 3, NFS 4, Theif I.

The difference between the x-gamer, mp3+ and platinum is the x-gamer comes with the above mentioned games, the mp3+ comes with sound editing software, and the plat comes with both and a live drive.

I bought this about a week ago.. Best Buy B&M has it for 75 dollars so you can have staples pricematch that and use the coupon to get it down to about 50 bucks.

I see the SBLive X-Gamer and the rest have a Digital output...How do you use that? I mean, to what peripheral do you connect to the Digital o/p?

I have an X-Gamer. It works great with my Altec Lansing ACS56 game speakers (a pimp deal as well). Back in my Quake III days (I owned it like nobody's business) that card proved well worth the buy...but be careful...because the latest Soundblaster drivers have a bug my friend and I noticed. When you're trying to shutdown, your system takes forever because it's trying to close some necessary program used by Soundblaster called Devldr. Just some fair warning.

Guess they are out of stock online, but still some in stores.
I got an MP3+ Live today for $49.99 + tax. he inputted the sale like a pricematch. after another store refused to accept coupons codes unless I had the post card. I think the manager was just a nice guy.
I was hoping it had the software for converting mp3s to cd format , but it doesn't. Still a good deal for $52 out the door...

online ordering depends on your zip code, so try it anyway. If it lets you order it there is a chance you'll get it..
Is this card the same as the value one except for the software , or is there a difference in the actual hardware?
