i am using a Vortex SQ1500 sound card. after i install the drivers and reboot at the prompt, i get a windows alert message saying "Your Vortex adapter is not plugged into the primary PCI bus. The MPU401, joystick, modem and Sound Blaster capabilities may not work properly when on the secondary PCI bus. Please consult your user's manual for more details." now i know there are primary and secondary IDE channels, and i know a thing or two about the PCI bus, but i was unaware of primary and secondary PCI bus. on top of the windows alert message i get every time i install or reinstall the drivers for my sound card, i also get a message in DOS during the boot-up process that says "ERROR #6: AUREAL VORTEX AUDIO; SOUND BLASTER EMULATION DISABLED IN WINDOWS. DRIVER NOT LOADED PROPERLY." now this message and the one in windows explains why my Sound Blaster capabilities wont work and my joystick isnt recognized when plugged into the game controller port on my sound card. but neither suggests what i can do to fix this problem. i looked through my mobo manual to see if i could find something about the primary or secondary PCI buses, but i found nothing. i am running a CUSL2 mobo. i've tried the sound card in PCI slots 1,2,4, and 5...all of which are supposedly running off the secondary PCI bus (according to the windows alert message i get). keep in mind that the sound card does work to some degree. i have no problem with sound in games or listening to music. the only problems are the Sound Blaster Emulation being disabled in windows due to "improperly loaded drivers" and the fact that any game controller isnt being detected when i plug it into the sound card. i am going to look for updated drivers online, but if anyone has some suggestions (and believe me i need all the help i can get) please post here. thanks...
