Sound blaster Audigy 2 ZS problem

It seems, recently all games running EAX generate a harsh crackling sound everytime a big explosion happens. Sometimes when you shoot, like in HALO, you don't hear your gun firing but only the bullets hitting. Other times, like in COD, the war plane's bombs create this violent and unaturaly distorted crackling sound in rear speakers. I tried turning CMSS off and reduced bass and other things but the crackling won't go away.

This is the rig in sig. I recently updated to EAX4.0 and that service pack driver update for my card. I had no previous sound card installed before the SB audigy 2 ZS.

do you get the same thing through headphones directly plugged into the card?

Yes I do and also through the headphone jack in my speakers system! help guys!

I'd try an uninstall of the drivers, and see what gives there. Of course, reinstall the drivers again, but don't use the driver update function from MS.
