How is this for home theater purposes? I have to have an external box b/c i'm out of useable PCI slots.

I've heard that Audigy 2's are really good for gaming but not so good for home theater stuff... so if it's only for home theater purposes, it's probably not the best choice.

Why? HT stuff is fairly simple compared to gaming audio so if it is good for gaming it will be good for movies too. Audigy 2NX decodes dolby and dts, works on usb 2.0 and is one of few cards that have almost no jitter due to specific transfer mode compared to other usb cards.... Just make sure your USB controller driver is updated so that it does not hog the system when you start playing 5.1. sounds. It comes with a remote control, right? Not bad for HT at all...
