sound blaster 5.1 live no sound..

hey, well had this sound blaster over 2 years now and now doesn't out put sound windows xp pick's it up fine and with creative sound card drive and I able play music and all, no error I just can't hear anything.. My speaker is fine because I use my mp3 player on it and worked fine. So what could it be? And if yah an idea what should be check on the sound card circut involving electronic using multimeter etc... Let me know I have electronic experience not an expert but have some skills

First of, I'd remove the device from Device Manager, and have windows redetect it and reinstall it, then reinstall the software that came with it. The Live! series were and still are pretty buggy when it comes to Windows actually remembering that they are there.

Also, check your Multimedia settings in Control Panel to make sure that it still shows up, and that the speakers (under the advanced button) are not set to some option like mono, or headphones.

Some day, in the far distant future, Creative will learn how to write a decent driver. The earth will probably die in some fiery cataclysm not long after, but it WILL happen.
