I have installed a sblive 1024 with win98 se. The problem i am having is when a sound is played (eg--when u click a button or any sounds are executed) the sound repeats infinetly! cd playback works fine bit still has the constant hammering in the back ground. I didnt have this problem with win2k but this was too heavy on my machine. Im assuming this is a conflict with my matrox g400??

HELP!!

What slot is the SB in relation to the G400 on the mobo? If they are next to each other there might be a conflict. Have you tried shuffling around the cards? W2K does a good job of allocating resources but its not perfect.

the g400 is on agp

then i have a realtech network card on pci1, pci2 is free and the sblive is on pci3. My modem is on isa 2 so id not sharing with the last pci. I havent tried moving the card yet as i heard there might be some irq setting which is wqrong in my bios--any suggestions before i start openeing the ah heck!!!

I presume you are using latest drivers & Liveware 3? Anyway go into System tools, then system infomation ,open hardware resources & select conflicts/sharing (you can also click IRQ to get a list on what is where) & see if you have a conflict, now if you have your Soundcard as a conflict, I had the same problem ,the way I solved it was change my modem resources(in device manager) on my modem & rebooted this moved my SBlive IRQ from 11(same IRQ as my Geforce2 MX) off to IRQ 10,this saved me from moving my Soundcard around to different slots.

No conflicts try reinstalling drivers or move the card to a different slot like the other Members have said, click your start button bottom left, then select programs, then accesories, followed by system tools,& last system information.

It`s best to have SBlive & Graphic cards using different IRQ,you do get some things sharing which is quite normal ,I`ve 5 devices sharing my IRQ with SBLIVE but Graphics card should not really be on the same IRQ as soundcard. On my system I have modem on IRQ 5,with SB16 emulation,SBlive on IRQ10,Graphics card on IRQ11.
