Sound blaser audigy: Need help

Hello all,

Well here I go. I have a sound blaster audigy mp3+ sound card and I have cambridge soundworks digital speakers. The speakers are connected via digital output through the sound card. My problem is when I play an mp3 at a low voume level everything is fine and the sound is crystal clear. When I increase the volume to about 75% the song starts to crack meaning it slows down sort of like slow motion and sounds like static. I put the bass to zero and and the sound comes great at low volume level but when I increase the bass level and volume to even 50% the sound starts to distort again. I plugged the speakers into the analog output and every thing works great a any volume level. I am very confused as to why my digital output is corrupting the sound quality at a high level. Any help?

Thanks,
Conan

Are you increasing the volume in hardware or software? i.e. are you using some program to increase the volume (through the use of a slider or some similar interface), or are you increasing the volume by using a knob, or some similar device?

My suggestion is to vary the volume in your operating system, by using some mixer panel if you are using a hardware device to vary the volume, or if you're already using software to vary the volume use the knob on your speakers.
