sound and video problem on XP Pro

I am having some problems with my brothers pc. It is running XP pro edition.

The problem is when we play either songs, or video's on it is will pause every few seconds for a split second. I turned off the sound to see if it was a video problem at first, and it still did it. I then tried to just run music on it using Winamp and it skiped then also. I have tested all his stuff that I can on my pc (ram, video and sound cards) and I did not have any problems with the stuff on my box. So I am guesing it is not one of those things causing the problem.

I also reinstalled the drivers for his stuff on his pc, and that did not help either. Any other ideas as to what I should try next? Could it be a motherboard problem, or maybe the processer? What about power supply? Argh...

so just to clarify, you put all three of those components in your box and it worked fine? or you put each one in separately and they worked fine?

also, details of all the components (motherboard, powersupply, videocard, soundcard) would be helpful

Yea, I guess I should have posted more info.

It is a 800MHz amd processer, running on a Asus k7v mobo. 320mb or ram. the songs and files are alll good. They played fine in the past. I would think that they all could not get corupt at one time. I have problems with with all my media players it seems. WMP, Winamp, and Quicktime. The sound card is a Creative CT4810 Audio PCI 128. The video card is a Gainward GeForce 2 MX. I do not know the type of power supply. I don't see a lable on it. When I swaped out the parts to my pc, I did each thing on its own. I would see if it would work with just his ram and my sound and video cards, then just the video card with my ram and sound card, and finally with just the sound card and my video and ram. Once I did this, I put all of the stuff togeather that was in his pc and still I did not have the problems that he had on his pc. When I did it the oppisite way, my stuff in his pc, the problem was still there.

I can burn a cd with my files, and then play them on my pc, and I do not have any problems. So I figure it is not the media.
