I think it's odd when companies release demos weeks after the release. I understand the concept when the game is a potentially bad game because you want to hide from consumers how much your game sucks. That shouldn't be an issue for a game like Soul Calibur IV though (unless your audience is filled with Yahtzees).
Maybe they just didn't have time to slap together a demo before the game's release. <shrug>
