Ok guys I hope to god somebody out there can help me out.
I have a Asus P4PE motherboard with the onboard sound (AC '97 using soundmax).
This is the second time this has happend, i had to fix it with a complete format last time.
I'm on Windows XP SP1
Here's the deal, my sound cut out completely. Windows still thinks it's isntalled, reinstaling drivers has no effect.
last time i was installing a gamepad into the gameport which caused the sound to cut, this time I didn't even do anything?!?! it just cut out all of a sudden. I am very unhappy with this onboard sound.
It's enabled in Bios
It's installed in windows, and the device manager of course says that it's working properly.
i'm using whatever the latest drivers are for soundmax cadenza off of the asus website.
I have no idea how to fix it.. and i do not want to reformat again? please doesn't somebody know how to fix this and what is causing it??
