I just bought a new system consisting of ABIT NV7-II, XP2500+, and a samsung 256MB PC2700 DDR.
Here's the problem.

The above 3 worked perfectly at the shop but when I got home and placed them inside the new case and the new 300 watt psu, it fails to boot.

Can a weak psu prevent a system from booting??
I always thought 300watt would be more than enough.

This is the PSU I'm using.

PSU

If it's not the psu, i probably damaged it during installation, but I need some help really badly right now.

I do not think it is your PSU.

"Gut" instict tells me to check to make sure your memory sticks are seated properly.

Well, that and the obligatory: "Is everything plugged in?" 😉

And if you answer yes to both, check the power switch on the back of the PSU.

And if that fails, make sure you have your case's power switch connected to the right header.

Well, the computer powers up and everything but nothing shows up on the monitor. Nope, no post...

The memory was never removed nor the cpu since it was brought from the shop.

They were already attached to the board and the board was simply slipped into the case at home.

What does "bench run" mean/?

case may be shorting it out...connect everything but leave the mobo outside the case on a cardboard perhaps...then troubleshoot from there...
