Sorta Stupid but looking for dual cpu support

O.k. I'm looking for dual cpu support for a computer thats gonna be editing videos and using maya and stuff, not for server stuff. I don't know anything about intel so whats the best chipset to get? and for athlons the dual processors are just the new MP?
