Would an old Cyrix 166mhz with 32 megs of ram be enough for a cheapo MP3 server, running nothing but winamp and some infrared remote software? I salvaged it out of an old system I upgraded for a friend and I'd hate to see it go to waste. The motherboard is really wierd, its got the solder points for a second CPU socket!

You can give it try, but I worked on some of those a few years back and correct me if I'm mistaken, but as I recall it was actually a 133mhz CPU with a P.R. of 166+GP and performed worse than a 100 pentium, and if you tried overclocking it the least bit it would actually lower the performance(as if that were possible LOL) and detect as a P.R. 90+. My point being you could put it on the railroad tracks, watch it get smashed and it wouldn't be a waste :D
