I didn't want to post this with det4 problems cos it's related to other versions.
On my lunchbreak at work we indulge in a bit of Unreal Tournament and for this purpose I bought an Asus V7100 GF2MX to go in my Dell Precision 410 (P2-400, 256MB ECC, standard bizarre dell onboard scsi and sound board). However, I can't get UT to run with drivers above 10.80, which have hideous performance. 12.41 and 21.81 (official ones!) both knack it. I;ve tried other versions of UT's renderers, d3d and openGL (I can run it in opengl with Loki's renderer for about 2 minutes with massive artifacts, but that's not surprising), but they all crash after a faded render of the very first frame of the intro. Drop back to 10.80 and everythings fine.
If anyone has any idea why updated official drivers kill the game while unreleased beta drivers let it work, I'd be very happy to entertain them!
Cheers all,
K.
