I'm having issues where my system won't boot nor beep, but I then I thought maybe it's because I dont' have speakers hooked up. But I thought the case has it's own little speaker?

Anyone know if I need to have speakers plugged in to hear it beep when say I boot up without an ram installed?

Unless you didn't hook up the case speaker connector, you don't need speakers to hear beeps.

As far as I know you can't boot up without RAM installed...that's probably oyu're problem.

But to answer your question I think most motherboards have a speaker actually built into the board itself these days, so I think you shouldn't need to hook up an external or case speaker to get the beeps.

Thanks guys ... the reason, I'm booting without the RAM is because I'm getting nothing from the motherboard, no vidoe no beeps. From previous builds, I know I would get some beeps if I don't have the RAM installed, so I went ahead and removed it to see if I have any beeps, still no beeps :(

Maybe your MB need to be connected to the case speaker after all.

One of the wire thingies coming out of the front bezel into the interior of the case should be labeled "Speaker" or "SPKR" or something like that. Consult your manual and figure out where this thingy fits on your motherboard.

Some motherboards do not have a system speaker as a part of the motherboard itself. They have a connector for connecting the case speaker to it.

But, some cases do not have a system speaker either. Antec Super Lanboy is an example.

A system speaker is a very small component. This is an example.

You cannot hear the beeps through the sound system (sound card or onboard sound card) speakers.

I havent seen a case speaker in yrs. Most (if not all) mobos in the last few years, at least the ones I have been using, have s speaker built in.

I thought the case itself came with the speaker, the last 2 cases I bought came with a system speaker that you hook on the front connection with the mobo.
