Sorry OT again When you put the heatsink paste on doesnt the clamp squeeze out all the heatsink paste

yeah sure it does but not completely because the paste will still be filling in the SMALL tiny holes because the surface isnt "completely flat"

Just apply a small amount on the core itself..Spread it with a ruler or credit card or something like that..Don't put it all over the ceramic just the core..Remember a little dab will do ya 😉

But to answer your question, you should be using a TINY amount... like Ricta says, it will squeeze most of it out, and that's what you want... but it will fill in the little creavices and what-not. Thermal paste isn't as good a transfer of heat as direct metal to metal contact, but it's better than air in those holes.
